"Covers" is a continuation of the collaged wall works Argote has been developing for several years. Drawing on the historical issues and imagery related to the impact of "ideological wars", this layered composition behaves as an allegory for how our subjectiveness is conditioned by the external forces linked to a certain idea of progress and truth that have been shaped by historical centers of power in their conveniences and perdurability. The superimposition of burned and cut fabrics reveals an amalgamation of images and texts which confront slogans, statements and found footage, allowing for multiple entry points of language. Argote believes in the idea of "non-dissociation," which tends to approach big historical issues without avoiding the noise around them, the intrinsic complexity of the way we look at them, and the way they affect us personally.
