While Iván Argote was still an art student at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris, he made the video Retouch, in which we see him tagging with black spray-paint two paintings by Piet Mondrian at Centre Pompidou. With this action that relates the aura of those historical artworks with the spontaneous action of urban resistance symbolised by graffiti, the artist confronts himself to this fascination. Furthermore the video questions the value of art ridiculed by the act of vandalism.
