Among Us is a series of sculptures whose first edition dates back to 2016. Each unique element resembles a fragment, or even an archaeological remnant, of a significant architectural monument. On the surface of the pieces, one can see extracts of statements, atomized and rendered incomprehensible by the perforations marking the sculptures. These fragments of sentences stem from Iván Argote’s long-term research into the history of ideologies, propaganda, and their impact on the formation of subjectivities.

Regarding the creative process behind Among Us, Iván Argote explains: “At first, I reproduced a few graffiti, and gradually the wall fragment (made of concrete, polyurethane, steel, and paint) became a support for writing and drawing, just like a blank page on which the artist writes statements, fictional conversations between fictional characters, excerpts from songs, exhibition titles, film scripts, comments on artworks exhibited nearby, and various quotations.”
