Rest and Be Lazy is a group of sculptures that functions as a celebration of life, of communal
living, and of the idea of being together. The group of works consists of four arches made
of light blue-tinted ecological concrete. Engraved are the words: “TO OUR TIMES –
INFINITE – TO THE OTHERS – TO OUR LIVES,” a kind of fragmented poem in four
parts, to be read in multiple directions. The four arches are laid horizontally and become
benches — places to sit, read, talk…

Sciences Po is an international university focused on research in the social sciences, and
living together — or coexisting — is at the heart of this institution. How do we organize
ourselves as a society? How do we distribute our resources? How do we structure our
public services? How do we manage our food systems? Our communication networks?
Our healthcare? Everyone who is part of Sciences Po carries within them a concern for,
and questions about, how to organize life in common. Through this artwork, Argote
wants to pay tribute to those matters.
